The SSE Hydro, Scotland’s largest purpose built music and live events arena opened in September 2013 on the site of the Scottish Event Campus. Since opening, the arena has played host to international music stars as well as global entertainment and sporting events.

Designed by acclaimed architects, Foster + Partners and with a seating capacity of 12,000, The SSE Hydro will stage around 140 events per annum. The new arena has augmented the SEC’s existing facilities and aspires to attract an audience of 1 million visitors each year which will position it in the top 5 busiest indoor music arenas in the world.

The arena has been designed to be a flexible space, accommodating a wide range of concerts and events; the seats and staging can be reconfigured to provide a capacity of 12,000 (everyone seated) or up to 13,000 (standing in performance bowl).

Scotland has a real passion for music, with 59% of the population attending live music events each year, ranking higher than any other part of the UK.
